Audience: All 제1회 ASTIN Bulletin 컨퍼런스가 이틀간 개최되어, 보험계리 연구자와 실무자들이 한자리에 모여 최첨단 연구 발표와 심도 있는 논의를 나누었습니다. ASTIN Bulletin – IAA 공식 학술지의 편집장인 Mario Wüthrich가 환영사를 통해 행사의 시작을 알렸으며, 이어 IAA 차기 회장(Max Happacher)이 연설을 통해, 변화하는 환경 속에서 보험계리학 연구를 발전시키고 전문직의 역할을 지원하는 데 있어 본 학술지가 수행하는 핵심적인 역할을 강조했습니다.
이번 컨퍼런스에서는 다음과 같은 네 명의 저명한 연사가 기조 강연을 진행했습니다. 기조 강연 외에도 총 103편의 발표가 진행되었으며, 인공지능 및 데이터 사이언스, 기후 변화와 사망률 모델링, 위험 측정, 보험 응용 분야 등 최신 연구 동향을 다루었습니다. 이는 보험계리학이 신흥 위험에 대응하고 기술 혁신을 활용하는 방식으로 진화하고 있음을 잘 보여주었습니다. IAA Kaggle 해커톤 수상자 발표! Audience: All IAA Kaggle 해커톤에 참여해 주신 모든 분들께 감사드립니다. 모든 제출작에서 생성형 AI를 활용한 창의성과 실험 정신, 그리고 깊이 있는 사고를 확인할 수 있었습니다.
엄격한 3단계 심사 과정을 거쳐 최종 수상자를 아래와 같이 발표합니다. Winners : 해석 가능성과 AI 기반 추론을 모두 아우르는 가장 완성도 높은 GenAI 워크플로우를 제시 생성형 AI를 가장 창의적이고 광범위하게 활용 대회 전체에서 최고 수준의 예측 모델 중 하나를 구현 상위 3위에는 포함되지 않았으나, 에이전트 기반 워크플로우라는 미래지향적 접근을 탁월하게 시연 심사 방식 (3단계) 1단계 — AI 기반 예비 심사 2단계 — AI + 인간 혼합 평가 3단계 — 최종 인간 심사

| | | The inaugural ASTIN Bulletin Conference at ETH Zurich
Audience: All The first ASTIN Bulletin Conference brought together actuarial researchers and practitioners for two days of cutting-edge presentations and discussions. Mario Wüthrich, Editor-in-Chief of the ASTIN Bulletin – Journal of the IAA, opened the event with welcoming remarks. IAA President-elect, Max Happacher, then addressed attendees, emphasizing the Journal's critical role in advancing actuarial research and supporting the profession as it navigates evolving challenges. The conference featured four distinguished keynote presentations: Beyond the keynotes, 103 presentations covered the latest developments in AI and data science, climate change and mortality modeling, risk measures, and insurance applications, demonstrating how actuarial science is evolving to address emerging risks and leverage technological innovation. Save the Date: The 2nd ASTIN Bulletin Conference will take place at the University of Naples "Parthenope" from January 20-22, 2027.

IAA AI Task Force – 2025 Update Audience: All The IAA AI Task Force continues to equip actuaries with the knowledge and tools to understand and apply Artificial Intelligence responsibly. Its work focuses on raising awareness of AI risks and opportunities, expanding the actuary’s role in emerging fields, and supporting engagement with supranational organizations. Key Highlights 2025: Engage & Foundations: Launched a global online community at AIforActuaries.org to share, discuss, and collaborate on AI topics. Curated learning paths help newcomers navigate AI technologies. Research & Advancement: Developed an AI knowledge base, identified relevant research areas, and built a framework to communicate AI insights across the actuarial profession. Case Studies & Tools: Produced practical AI case studies and guidance on tools like ChatGPT and coding assistants, supporting actuaries in day-to-day applications. Adoption Framework: Creating a comprehensive methodology for responsible AI adoption, covering governance, ethics, regulatory alignment, and implementation of best practices.
Events & Achievements: First AI hackathon with 250+ participants; winners shared creative projects. Looking ahead: 3rd AI Summit in Tokyo (Nov 2026) and a dedicated AI segment at ICA 2026, featuring 50 presentations on AI and data science.
Announcing the Winners of the IAA Kaggle Hackathon! Audience: All Thank you to all participants who took part in the IAA Kaggle Hackathon. We were truly impressed by the creativity, experimentation, and thoughtful use of Generative AI across the submissions. After a rigorous three stage judging process, we are excited to announce the winners. Winners : Negoto delivered the strongest holistic GenAI enhanced workflow, standing out in both interpretability and AI supported reasoning. Funky Turtles demonstrated the most creative and pervasive use of GenAI among all submissions. Tajmahal delivered one of the best predictive models in the entire competition. Although not part of the top three, wideflat deserves special recognition for demonstrating a forward‑thinking agentic workflow approach. Young Actuaries World Cup - Western Hemisphere Semifinals Results
Audience: All We are thrilled to announce the two semifinalists from the Western Hemisphere advancing to the finals of the Young Actuaries World Cup! After presenting their ideas in an elevator speech and answering the judges' questions with outstanding demonstrations of professionalism, we are excited to announce that Hannah Giliomee and Shiela Nicole Cruz will be attending the International Congress of Actuaries (ICA) 2026 in Tokyo, Japan to represent their region on the world stage. We extend our warmest congratulations to both Hannah and Shiela and wish them the very best as they prepare for the finals. As part of this project, the group has created a short questionnaire to identify common ways actuaries add value across different practice areas. Member associations are kindly invited to share their valuable insights and gather input from their stakeholders, including non-actuaries.
