Title: IAA Pandemics Task Force Completes Its Work with the Publication of a Third Paper Audience: All The International Actuarial Association (IAA) extends its sincere thanks to the members of the Pandemics Task Force for their dedicated efforts, culminating in the publication of their third paper, “Implications of COVID-19: Data and Modelling a Pandemic” released in November 2025. Under the leadership of Chair Sara Teppema, the 12-member Task Force—representing 10 countries and comprising Ash Bhalerao, Chris Daykin, Dale Hall, Roseanne Harris, Kentaro Katsuno, Chitra Lele, Raquel Marimon, Ibrahim Muhanna, Marc Tardif, Kees Thiers, Stuart Wason and Leza Wells—has delivered valuable insights that raise awareness and highlight the actuarial profession’s capacity to support key stakeholders in managing pandemic-related risks. The IAA is deeply grateful to the Pandemics Task Force for its commitment and collaboration on this important initiative, which makes a meaningful contribution to the work of the IAA and the global actuarial profession. The Task Force was disbanded with thanks by the IAA Executive Committee at their meeting on 23 November 2025 in Marrakesh. Member associations are encouraged to invite their members to take part in the community. Global Actuarial Kaggle Hackathon 2025! A few weeks ago, the IAA successfully hosted its first Global Actuarial Kaggle Hackathon, bringing together more than 250 participants worldwide. Over 400 submissions were received and are currently under review by the judging panel. Participants were challenged to predict property sale prices using the Ames Housing dataset while optimizing RMSLE (Root Mean Squared Logarithmic Error). Winning teams will be announced on the IAA LinkedIn channel once the evaluation process is complete.
